Jamie's Day 24/8/12

Today in the Studio I was on Photoshop throughout the day working on a design job. My Photoshop skills are pretty rough around the edges but I can manage pull off most tasks. Youtube was my teacher; before I went to university I sat and watched videos on Photoshop and would play with it at school.  Lucky I did as when I went to Uni we only had one lesson on Photoshop!

22/8/12

Today has been filled with research, non-stop research! I've been looking into advertising, newspapers, magazines, internet and sponsorship! It's surprising the amount of advertising you can do and how you can get yourself out there. Some interesting routes of promotion could include roundabout sponsorship, racecourse sponsorship, however my personal favorite has to be aerial advertising! You don't see those often anymore!

I was informed today that i'll be on duty to fold many many many flyers. Bring em on!

Prepare for lift off, I had my hands on a camera today. We’re steadily heading towards creating videos! I was getting the hang of the camera and practicing certain shots. Moreover, I discovered that the guys in the studio are camera shy, swiftly turning away when a camera swings in their direction!

I’m fine behind a camera if I know what I’m saying, otherwise I’ll start making stuff up and hit a wall (not literally!). I'm looking forward to filming!

Jamie’s top tip:

To avoid eating an entire bag of sweets while at work...don't bring them to work! Or have some will power, I unfortunately don't.

I’m very excited to be attending the Cross Media Show 2012 at the Business Centre, London.

The show is an event where marketers and agencies are taught how cross-platform campaigns can improve ROI. It’s going to be interesting to get the 411 on the latest and innovative methods to produce, run and monitor such campaigns.

Accompanied by Danielle and Henry, we’re travelling up to London on September the 3rd. It’s our duty to cover the best points of the show.  
We will report back topics that are discussed and we’ll make sure to note key points that could be vital to A Local Printer.

Jamie's Day 2/8/12

Today has gone fast! As I thought how slow the day was going it abruptly accelerated to home time with little notice. My day has consisted of various daily tasks, proofing, design work and making tea.

I learnt that certain jobs have specific identification numbers that are printed (small) on particular pieces. Such action obviously serves a purpose, it’s so we can recognise when the printed piece was created, identify it and locate it on our system in the future.

I’m still learning the ropes of alocalprinter :)

Jamies Tip of the Day
Offices should have a sign stating “Warning, stapler thieves operate in this area”. It would warn my colleagues.
