We have been offsetting our carbon outputs since 2018. Our Carbon Footprint has been calculated using the Sustrax carbon calculator which measures both location based and market based GHG emissions.  In March 2024 we signed up with Ecologi who are transparent and pro-active in showing where the trees we purchase each month are being used, and the good work that is being done. The number of trees and projects funded and CO2e avoided with Ecologi is available below. Additionally, the majority of our papers are carbon offset via our paper merchants who work with Woodland Trust and Carbon Footprint on carbon capture schemes.

All of our products are plastic free, and so is our packaging. We use 100% recycled cardboard boxes and any filler we use is made from shredded waste boxes - good for the environment, great as packing out material and meets our 'reuse where possible' goals! 

Our paper is recycled or made from trees specifically grown as paper crops, our inks are vegetable oil based or eco-toners that do not contain plastic particles. Our laminates are bio-based, recyclable, compostabale and biodegradable. 

At ALP we believe printed products shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense. That’s why we set ourselves a goal to remove plastic from every part of our operation.

Our manufacturing and business waste is all collected for recycling. All of our paper waste is saved and segregated by grade - white, printed, packaging - and collected for recycling at a certified paper and packaging recycling facility. Any plastic waste we have, such as pallet wrap for example, is also saved and collected separately for recycling.

Any plastic waste we unavoidably receive, such as pallet wrap, is saved and collected separately for recycling via our waste paper converters. We also wanted to create our own 'Plastic Credit' to offset the plastic footprint generated by the unavoidable plastic waste that is received by ALP in our deliveries etc. So we have signed up with Work For Good to make donations to various marine charities such as Marine Conservation Society, a UK based charity working to protect marine wildlife and clean up our oceans. We believe they make a worthy cause for our plastic credits.

Our printing processes are fully eco-friendly with waterless litho presses using vegetable oil based inks, and digital presses using eco-friendly toners. Our toners comply with EU and FDA legislation for food packaging intended for all food types when used behind a functional barrier and are certified as food safe.

All of the printed products we supply are fully recyclable and biodegradable. Some of the products we supply are certified as fully compostable. We only use established papers that are sourced from responsibly managed forests. These materials have met a strict set of environmental and socially responsible standards, plus you can also choose 100% recycled paper for the ultimate in eco-friendly papers.
