Halloween is a ghoulish growing retail business

Ghost cut-out cardsHalloween has experienced significant growth in popularity in the United Kingdom over the past few years. While it was once a relatively low-key event, Halloween has evolved into a major cultural occasion with widespread participation. But why have we suddenly gone gaga over ghosts and bonkers about bats? And how can we turn it in to a selling opportunity?

Number one on the spooky list is the influence of American culture through movies, TV shows and commercialisation. American-style Halloween traditions, such as dressing up in costumes and trick-or-treating have become widespread in the UK, with whole streets involved in creating a spooky sensation for young and old.

In some areas Halloween has become an annual community event with neighbourhoods arranging trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating contests and other activities that bring people together.

Number two in the terror chart is Halloween parties and events which have become increasingly popular in the UK. Many bars, clubs and venues host themed parties, and families often organize Halloween-themed activities for children, such as pumpkin carving and haunted house visits.

Custom-cut batsNumber three on the batty billboard are retailers in the UK, who have recognised and embraced Halloween as a growing commercial opportunity. Shops selling Halloween decorations, costumes and sweets make it easier for people to become involved, thus generating a cycle of increasing interest and participation.  Specialised Halloween "pop-up shops," have also become common in the UK in the weeks leading up to Halloween, offering a wide range of Halloween cards, merchandise and contributing to the day’s popularity.

Halloween has firmly established itself as a prominent autumn event in the United Kingdom and spookily our custom-cut cards are available as ghosts, bats, pumpkins, chain-saws or whatever scary shape you desire. And for those who are peeking out between their fingers, we also make cute fear-free greeting cards ;)
