Halloween has experienced significant growth in popularity in the United Kingdom over the past few years. Number three on the batty billboard are retailers in the UK, who have recognised and embraced Halloween as a growing commercial opportunity. Shops selling Halloween decorations, costumes and sweets make it easier for people to become involved, thus generating a cycle of increasing interest and participation. Specialised Halloween "pop-up shops," have also become common in the UK in the weeks leading up to Halloween, offering a wide range of Halloween cards, merchandise and contributing to the day’s popularity.
