You want to Print Postcards? Fabulous, but read this first

If you have important information to share or just fancy firing out a message to your customers as a fun way to keep in touch, then deciding to print postcards is a great way to achieve this and so much more. 

Postcards are fun, bite size pieces of information. Bizarrely the simpler they are, the better they perform. In fact a postcard that is sent to say ‘hello, we’re still here and we miss you’ can have a better result than a full on marketing drive.  They are a quick and effective way of communicating, simple to create, affordable to print and are always almost read. What’s not to love?!

Some of the best received postcards feature a hand written message on the reverse. Granted this is not ideal if you want to send thousands, but certainly achievable if you are targeting a selection of your key customers. Even a hand signed postcard will show you care enough to take the time to make contact and the recipient will feel extra special.

Think design before you print postcards

Designing postcards give you the opportunity to let your personality do the talking. A stunning or quirky image will always be eye-catching and entice the reader to want to learn more; great as either a teaser campaign or a call to action. 

• Don’t’ over stuff – let the picture do the talking and keep your actual message concise, personal and relevant. Your customers will love you for it.
   
• Think about the type of material you want your postcard printed on – it will have a bearing on the look, feel and finish of the final printed postcard.

• Coated boards (silk and gloss) reproduce colour very well, resulting in vibrant, crisp images. The board has a shine to it but is not the perfect medium for writing on.
  
  
• Uncoated boards (100% recycled) print with a ‘flatter’ finish, meaning that colour is more muted and ‘organic’ in appearance. This is the perfect board for an eco-message and the uncoated material means that it can be written on will all types of instrument.
   
• For a postcard like you get at the seaside you need Trucard, a board that has a gloss front and an uncoated back. This is a specialist material that delivers a bit of everything!
