Brochure Printing – worth the paper it’s printed on?

Bond brochure printingNo matter what quantity you are considering, your brochure printing can benefit from thought at the initial design stage to ensure that the cost involved is money well spent. There are tips and tricks to make sure you get the best value for money without compromising on design or quality.

Selecting the right paper for your brochure printing is worth taking some time over to get it right – because the material you choose will have a bearing on the look, feel and more importantly, the perception of the content. Take in to consideration the audience you are targeting, how much handling your brochure will endure and the actual content.

Brochure Printing - Paper and Design Considerations

The more prestigious the project the better quality the paper should be; but the posher the paper the bigger the cost! We are often asked to prepare quotations for brochures that involve printing on ‘designer’ papers. This is absolutely fine - until we submit the price. Embossed, coloured textured metallic and watermarked all come with a very big price tag. They look stunning and print beautifully, but be prepared to shell out!

An alternative to costly heavy paper is to consider using one of the new generation recycled papers available for the text pages. Recycled paper is now very affordable with a bright white finish and has the benefit of being on the chunky side – so even 120gsm papers bulk up in terms of thickness. Using your recycled paper effectively can deliver a quality corporate style brochure at a far more affordable cost – and every business want to save money if they can!

Informal brochures designed specifically for a one-off promotion or event can certainly get away with being a lighter material, and a silk or uncoated paper will work equally well. The benefit of the silk papers is that they have a lovely, quality look and feel to them but are very affordable. Essentially, if you opt for a thinner material rather than premium paper stock it will help to keep the printing costs down.

At A Local Printer we are very happy to help you with a decision on the paper selection for your next brochure printing project, with samples and printing advice readily available.
