Learn the Secrets of the Fall

Learn the Secrets of the FallAccording to Pantone, the world authority on colour and colour systems, the colours for autumn 2015 are ‘earthy neutrals with a range of bold colour statements and patterns to reflect a landscape of hope, fun, fantasy and all things natural.’ Wow – who knew that colours could say so much? Well, we all do. Every time we decide to redecorate a room the first thing we reach for are the paint colour swatches. Generally we already have an idea of what effect we want to achieve (calm, vibrant, luxurious) and then pick colours that we feel achieve the effect we are after. Suffice to say whilst there will always be differences of opinion on what a particular colour says, some colours are renowned for creating a particular feeling - blue for calming, green for relaxing, yellow for energy.

So should colour play an important part in your marketing? You bet! According to research complied by web design and marketing company WebPageFX, people make a subconscious judgment about a product in less than 90 seconds of viewing and the majority of these people base that assessment on colour alone. In fact, almost 85% of consumers cite colour as the primary reason they buy a particular product!

So how does the 2015 Autumn range of colours stack up?

Cold Dark Colours violet, blue, turquoise, deep green and navy create the impression of stability and quality. These shades are often placed as complementary colours; although they don’t attract attention they emphasize content and are frequently used on professional business websites.  Warm Dark Colours like purple and brown express tradition, luxury and relaxation. They blend well in expensive and elegant design and mixed with cold colours give an impression of modernity and are ideal for brands engaged in finance, consulting and craft.
