Here is some food for thought:-
• Global Industry Analysts Inc predicts that the global market for stationery products will exceed $226 billion by 2020.
• The UK based Greeting Card Association market report for 2015 shows greeting cards were sold with a value of over £1.6 billion at retail and that the total value of single cards sold in the UK in 2014 stood at £1.39 billion, up 7.77%
Wow – those are impressive figures!
At A Local Printer we have seen our online customer base change from predominantly promotion and marketing print with some businesses printing to retail driven. One trend that is very heartening to see is the increase in letter writing stationery – after all, what is nicer than receiving a handwritten letter that someone has taken the time and effort to write.
With lots of small online shops now showcasing their own beautiful designs, choosing writing paper and notelets from them is far more fun than a browse around the High Street retailers. And with so much choice it makes selection a pleasure. It is also gratifying to see that the majority of this stationery is printed on recycled paper, or at the least on paper from sustainable sources.
As a printer we are lucky enough to see some great designs coming through for retail stationery products and a have noticed some new design trends for 2016. Keep an eye out for bold custom monogram styles; bright colour and geometric designs; pastels, hand lettering and hand drawn design; metallic and foils on neutral papers; modern folk design.
Whichever of latest design trends is your inspiration, why not consider an investment in some writing paper, notecards or notelets and make someone’s day.
