Setting up a new business can be exciting, but if you’re going through this process right now, you’ve no doubt got lots to think about. For example, it’s really important that you promote your products or services effectively. Even the best business idea in the world can fail if consumers don’t know about it.
This is where online printing services come in handy. By producing business cards, posters, leaflets, flyers and other marketing material, you can help to spread the word about your new company.
You’re not alone
One thing’s for sure, you’re not the only one who’s been bitten by the entrepreneurship bug. According to research on behalf of The Prince’s Trust and RBS, record numbers of young people are considering setting up their own businesses.
Of 1,627 individuals interviewed by YouGov, 30 per cent said they believed they would be self-employed in the future, while one in four revealed they expected to be their own boss within five years. Also, 43 per cent noted they had already made money from entrepreneurial activity, such as selling products they had made or working on a freelance basis.
Meanwhile, figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the number of self-employed young people has risen by 71,000 since the start of the economic crisis in 2008.
Breaking the cycle
Responding to the trend, The Prince’s Trust’s chief executive Martina Milburn said: “Five years on from the start of the recession, youth unemployment remains high and many are seeing self-employment as a way to break the cycle of joblessness.
“Setting up in business can be tough, but at The Prince’s Trust we have a 30-year record of helping disadvantaged young people succeed in work and self-employment, no matter what their background. It is critical we nurture young people’s passion for business and invest in the next generation.”
Success story
If you’re looking for inspiration to help drive you forward, you can look to the story of Duane Jackson. In 2005, he launched the online accountancy company KashFlow with the help of The Prince’s Trust and now the firm turns over £2 million per year and has 20,000 small business customers.
Talking about his experiences, he said: “It was necessity entrepreneurship because I couldn’t get a job. It was a choice between starting a business or going back into crime.”
