If you are a designer looking for another way to make the most of all your beautiful designs it might be worth adding notepad printing to the mix. A set of notepads held together with a complimentary belly band makes for an eye catching retail item and taps straight in to the gift market. So what things should you consider when embarking upon printed notepad design?
Notepads are for notes – so make sure that the area for being written on is light enough to show up any jottings. It is tempting to create an all over design for your notepads and there is nothing wrong with that, but if your designs are too dark the notepad is in danger of not being fit for purpose. Consider leaving your design as a border with an unprinted area for note taking, or keep your design across the entire sheet but knock back a portion to enable it to be written on legibly.
Keep your notepads to standard sizes. A6 notepads are great for people on the go, whereas A5 notepads are more desks orientated. Keep your designs in line with the size/use as well. A notepad for use out and about may benefit from less artwork and more workable space/features, such as lines or squares.
Get in line for Notepad Printing
Talking of filling the sheet, it is amazing what the addition of lines can do for the usability of a notepad. Lines encourage lists which create order, enable task prioritisation and are proven to relieve stress. Blank areas leave space for that fabulous pastime of doodling and creating designs, whilst grids look pretty cool!
If you are printing more than one design for your notepads try to keep your designs as a suite. Your customers might love two designs and hate the other two if they are out of sync with the others, and bang goes your sale. Similar colours, fonts and styles all work to create a cohesive set of notepads.
Advertise yourself – incorporate your name and website address in to the notepad design so that the recipients can look you up online and buy more products!
