What is the similarity between flyers and flags? They are both designed to get attention, they both communicate, generally they are both colourful and sometimes they are both made from paper!
Flyers are a tremendous and inexpensive way to create a buzz around a promotion, event or product. As a marketing tool your potential customers can see what you are advertising, and then have the ability to physically take that information away with them. Flyers can be targeted to a specific location or market segment – essential when return on your investment is key.
Make your flyer printing work for you
Incorporate a few fundamental elements and reap the rewards!
Consider colour carefully. Different colours have different meanings and will work towards communicating your message on an emotional level. For example, orange represent optimism, yellow represents freshness and blue represents confidence. Decide what your message and target audience is and pick colours that reflect and enhance that message; On an emotional level you are already on the way to getting engagement from your target audience.
Focus on fonts. Your choice of font is as important as your combination of colour. Select one that is easy to read and make they key message large enough to read – there is nothing more annoying that not being able to clearly read what a flyer is about! Keep your content to a minimum – your flyer is a taster rather than a main course. For a little added flavour it is a good idea to use two fonts in your flyer printing. This acts as a point of interest to the reader but also provides the opportunity to separate out crucial from other information.
Entice with images. The perfect image is always going to be noticed, even more so than the text as this is what we always see first. Keep your image consistent with your message and don’t go overboard with too many. One fantastic image says more than words alone.
Love your logo. Create and improve brand awareness by incorporating your logo somewhere on your flyer!
Answer the question – what is this flyer about? Be clear and concise; make it obvious what the purpose of your flyer is, when it is and where it is! Use between 60 and 100 characters for your headline message, more than that and you may lose the reader.
So now you know. Designing a flyer is pretty simple if you follow the steps above. Now all you need is to organise your flyer printing and away you go with your promotion. Good luck!
