Words work: creating a concise business message for your flyer printing

Flyer PrintingYour marketing collateral, whether it’s flyer printing, brochures, notepads or other material is jostling for attention in a crowded marketplace.  Getting your message across quickly and concisely is crucial and it’s becoming increasingly important to do so.

Why is a concise message for your flyer printing so important?

Researchers tell us that our attention spans are becoming shorter* and this is partly due to our increased use of the internet and also social media, where information is speedily shared in bite-sized chunks.  Factor in the time pressures of the average person’s daily life and it’s easy to see that ‘short and simple’ is an excellent template to grab — and importantly keep — your readers’ attention on your printed flyers.

As well as an eye-catching image, your printed flyers need clear text to explain your product or service and persuade the reader that this is exactly what they need (or to stimulate their curiosity to find out more about it).

Here are some do’s and don'ts to ensure that your print flyers are a perfect aid to your marketing plan.

Do: For your flyer printing
• Do use a catchy headline.  It should shout ‘read me!’ and if it doesn’t grab your readers’ attention it’s highly unlikely that they will bother to read the rest of your print flyers
• Always keep the body of the text concise.  It’s easier to read, understand and remember.   Keep editing until you have the critical elements of your message that the reader needs – bullet points may be useful here
• Aim to use words that can create a mental image in your reader’s mind, relevant to your product
• Proofread several times to ensure that the copy for your print flyers is totally error-free.  Read it out loud to ensure that it has a good flow and makes sense

Don’t: For your flyer printing
• Don’t bury the important information about your product in lots of irrelevant words, or images
• Avoid using too many fonts. It creates a jumble from which the brain will struggle to understand your message. From here your print flyers are on a one-way journey to the bin
• Never put your contact information at the top of your print flyers; your catchy headline should be the first thing your new customer sees, with your contact information at the bottom of the flyer as your ‘call to action’
• Don’t forget to put yourself in your customer’s place. How will this product help me, solve my problem, or make life easier are all questions that we want direct and practical answers to. Your print flyers can provide them!
