Since mid-2019 we have been developing our range of large format products, with an eye to keeping them as eco-friendly as possible. And to that end this year we have designed, produced and installed our first eco-friendly large format Christmas trees for Specialized Cycles.
First up it must be noted that the plastic business card boxes we use are recyclable and made from reusable polypropylene. Secondly, the reason we use plastic business card boxes and not cardboard ones is because it is the only way we can guarantee the integrity of the contents. Cardboard boxes are just not up the handling they get either in the mail system or in the (sometimes not very careful!) hands of the couriers. So you have a small, sturdy plastic box left over. What can you do with it? We’ve come up with a few different uses that may give a new life to your old box.
Any business, no matter the size, has a responsibility to find the right packaging for its products. With a strong customer driven focus to move away from plastics, excess packaging and costly materials, eco-friendly packaging is rightly becoming the packaging of choice.
Leading the way on adopting eco-packaging are the small businesses and we are here to help make that process as easy as possible.
As part of our ‘Reuse and Recycle’ blogs this one is all about diverting your magazines, old wrapping paper, catalogues and pretty much everything printed from the bin and using it as the basis for decoupage decoration.
Simply put, decoupage is using printed material that would otherwise be destined for the recycling bin, cutting out pictures, shapes or motifs, creating a collage and gluing to an object before finishing off with a coat of varnish. All very ‘Blue Peter’ but lots of fun and very satisfying!
The Stationery Subscription Box has suddenly catapulted in to the stratosphere, largely due to our inherent love of stationery. Even though the digital age was supposed to have done away with dated pens and paper the sales of stationery continues to increase year on year.
The advent of high-quality digital printing is making entry to the world of bespoke stationery printing exciting and affordable. Couple that with an easy route to market with ‘off-the-shelf’ e-commerce websites and the stationery boom has gone from a rumble to an explosion. And as far as we are concerned – it’s great!
A Local Printer uses Carbon Capture material for many of our products, which translates in to money donated to Woodland Trust to plant trees. With our paper merchant partners the combined donations are now in excess of £800,000 which equates to rather a lot of trees. 260,000 to be precise!
Selling your own greeting cards must be one of the most satisfying ways of making some extra cash to splash at Christmas. Greeting card printing is popular all year round, but at this time of year the take up rate goes sky high! There are so many different routes available to market and sell your cards too; via online shops for those of you who are very organised, at school fetes, church and town fairs for others. And let's not forget that boot fairs and local shops and businesses are also good avenues to pursue.
Designing and printing your own greeting cards has never been easier and is the perfect ‘starter’ product with which to enter the retail market place. With mobile phones now taking photographs at a resolution good enough to print from, inspiration really is all around you and just waiting for you to snap it up. Add easy online design and editing tools to the mix and you have everything you need at your fingertips to create your first set of printed greeting cards.
We generally associate gold and silver wrapping paper with the festive season but, like puppies, it’s not just for Christmas.
The first beauty of metallic wrapping paper is that it brings instant glamour to anything – whether it is wrapped presents, drawer lining, scrapbooking or in a frame as a poster (you should try this – add a piece of wrapping paper to a lovely frame with a pre-cut mount for an instantly chic picture!) The second beauty of metallic wrapping paper is that it costs less than our normal wrapping paper!
As the UK’s first ever online eco-printer we have been blazing a trail for environmentally friendly printing since 2006, offering a comprehensive range of products available on recycled papers and printed with vegetable oil based inks and eco-friendly toners. And whilst these days almost all inks are vegetable oil based and almost all paper pulp is sourced from sustainable crop grown forests we continue to promote and champion eco-friendly printing because doing no harm to our planet is what we believe in.
